We can beat him this year....

This is an old video but just shows how Lautenberg's words and long record of inaction in Washington can be used against him this year. The fact is he has been in DC too long.

We can beat him this year, just not with any of the candidate's currently running in the primary. Anne Estabrook, some believe she was too liberal, in our view would have been a great candidate in the general election. Her background would have been a great contrast to Lautenberg. Unfortunately health problems forced her to step out of the race. And now the last few days of embarrassment in the GOP primary have shown all of us proof that both of the declared candidates have problems that will sink them in the general election. In fact both of these candidates may hurt Republicans in local races down ballot.

Paging all Republican's, we need someone qualified to jump into this race soon so we can put up a candidate who can beat Frank in the fall.

Interesting developments in the GOP Senate Primary

While the District 3 - Congressman Saxton & District 7 - Congressman Ferguson, Congressional primaries have stayed civil, the primary for U.S. Senate to challenge Lautenberg has not. Every passing day this campaign takes a turn further into the mud with Murray Sabrin today calling for Joe Pennacchio to resign from his state senate seat because of documents you can read here <http://politickernj.com/files/2008-03-17_NationalistAgenda.pdf>.

The writings called "The Nationalist Agenda - A Blue Print for the 21st Century" and contain some, to put it lightly, interesting views that the democrats will be able to use, in our view, to damage Pennacchio's general election campaign against Frank Lautenberg beyond saving. (Read all the documents for yourself then say we are wrong) Now it is not up to us to say that the Senator should drop out of the U.S. Senate primary over the documents that were released today. But the truth is, any good political insider will tell you; these papers destroy his chances of winning the primary election and general election in the fall. They may even destroy his re-election chances in three years for his state senate seat.

That being said, if Pennacchio dropped out of the U.S. Senate primary Murray Sabrin would be the only candidate left to challenge Lautenberg and this, in our opinion, would leave another candidate in the race with baggage making them unelectable in the fall. So will another candidate emerge in this race with the release of this new information? Will a candidate emerge even if Pennacchio decides to stay in the U.S. Senate primary or only if he drops out or not at all? What do you think?

NJDems start the push for Universal Health Care Monday?!?

This caught our eyes yesterday but we didn't have the time to write about it. The following media advisory was sent out yesterday:

MEDIA ADVISORY - VITALE, LAWMAKERS TO ANNOUNCE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PLAN ON MONDAY

TRENTON – On Monday, March 17, Senator Joseph F. Vitale will announce his plan for a phased-in program to provide universal health care access for all New Jerseyans at a news conference in the Statehouse Annex.

“In our State’s current fiscal climate, we need to seek out better ways to fund New Jersey’s most sacred obligations,” said Senator Vitale, D-Middlesex, the Chair of the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee. “The soaring costs of health care in New Jersey and around the nation are causing real hardships, not just for government-administered health care programs but also for private citizens who fear losing their health benefits more than being a victim of a terrorist attack. Frankly, we cannot afford the status quo any longer, and must adopt a more cost-effective model to ensure affordable, high-quality health care for every New Jersey resident.”...
You can view the full release here (http://politickernj.com/media-advisory-vitale-lawmakers-announce-universal-health-care-plan-monday)

So what in this advisory from Senator Vitale caught our eyes? Well two things did, first his line: "Frankly, we cannot afford the status quo any longer..." one would think he is taking about run away government spending, out of control government regulations, sky high property taxes, and every other tax-n-fee on the books in New Jersey! No, he is talking about how the dems in Trenton realize we cannot afford the status quo any more, that’s right folks, its time to tighten our belts! We need to suck up the pain, save money, and phase in universal health care!!!!

The second line that caught our eye in the advisory is a glimpse into how the dems plan to elevate debate on this important issue:

"...private citizens who FEAR LOSING THEIR HEALTH BENEFITS MORE THAN BEING A VICTIM OF A TERRORIST ATTACK"

Ok, you can read that again like we did!

We do not know about you, but here at NJPoliticalInsider we do not fear losing our health care benefits more then being a victim of a terrorist attack. How can a rational person even seek to compare the two things? Senator Vitale is already working to elevate the debate by going to extremes in his arguments for universal health care in New Jersey. This is a debate that all of us agree needs to happen, we believe the free market Republican view's will win in the end, but throwing around lines like this is what is wrong with politics today. But it is not a surprise that democrats, like Senator Vitale, are looking to elevate the levels of debate in Trenton.

We hope that Republicans are working on a plan to address healthcare in New Jersey to fight this and prevent another large unaffordable government program from going into effect.

Time to build up the NJGOP not tear it down.

The current shape of the New Jersey Republican Party has motivated us to start this blog as a forum for ideas for building up the NJGOP not tearing it down. Many GOP bloggers and political insiders in New Jersey have focused on bashing our party's current sad state, here at NJ Political Insider we will focus on building up the GOP. We believe that as a party we have hit rock bottom. That the infighting has to stop, we will never win elections as a fractured organization and many good people see this but are often silenced by out spoken critics that are driving our party into permanent minority status.

The truth is our party can win elections again but we need to focus on things that unite us, keep all of our fights out of the papers, off politickernj (as hard as that may sound but democrats manage to do this, strange hu?), so we can focus on re-building our once great party. Many individuals are working hard to rebuild our party from the ground up and it is long past the time that the GOP started to work TOGETHER with all of its coalitions to win elections. More things unite us then divide us and we need to focus on these uniting issues so that we can SAVE OUR STATE!

At NJ Political Insider we pledge the following… We will promote the positive things going on in the New Jersey Republican Party and pull down the democrats every chance we get, which in this state has become very easy… Stay tuned for more information, trust us things will get fun.
